Our Story – Børnecyklerne & Chanty

In 2017, we discovered that the market for children’s bikes was surprisingly dull and uninspiring. The selection was limited, the designs outdated, and there was little focus on what modern families actually want: bikes with smart design, better functionality, and colours that children truly love.

So, we decided to rethink the children’s bike – both visually and functionally. With that goal, Børnecyklerne.dk was created: a new platform for quality kids’ bikes, where play, safety, and aesthetics go hand in hand.

2017 – The Beginning of Something New

Børnecyklerne.dk launches with the ambition to offer something better for families. Not just bikes – but experiences on two wheels. Our mission was clear: to create modern children’s bikes that match both kids’ wishes and parents’ expectations for safety, functionality, and quality. The selection starts small, but the vision is big.

2018–2019 – Design with Children in Mind

Demand grows. More parents begin sharing their experiences online, giving us the confidence to develop our own bike designs. We involve families in the process and create colourful, durable, and lightweight bikes that quickly become favourites among both children and parents.

2020 – The Dream of Our Own Brand

It becomes clear that the next step is to create our own brand: Chanty. We want to build a bike series with unique design, higher quality, and improved functionality – yet still at affordable prices.

2021 – Chanty Arrives in Denmark

Chanty is launched in Denmark – and it becomes a huge success. The design, weight, and colours match precisely the needs we identified in the market. The bikes sell out quickly, and customer reviews confirm it: Chanty is here to stay.

2022 – Kids’ Cargo Bikes & Specially Designed Products

2022 marks a breakthrough for our range – we introduce our first children’s cargo bike, designed specifically to combine play, transport, and safety in one. The product is unique in the market and quickly becomes a favourite among both kids and parents.

At the same time, we launch a series of specially developed models such as balance bikes with integrated frame and handlebar lighting, adjustable ergonomic saddles, and unique colour combinations that stand out from competitors. Our brand becomes known not just for following trends, but for creating them.

2023 – Ready for Europe

With a strong brand behind us, we expand into new markets: Sweden and Germany. Local webshops launch, and our B2B network begins to grow across Scandinavia. Chanty positions itself as an affordable and modern choice for families throughout the region.

2024 – Focus on Innovation & Range

We launch new models: children’s cargo bikes and electric balance bikes with integrated lights. Our range grows to more than 60 products from 12" to 26", all featuring the recognizable Chanty design. We continue developing bikes that children love and parents trust – with a strong focus on functionality, safety, and the joy of cycling.

2025 – A European Vision

Our bikes are now sold in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, and France – with more markets on the way. We continue to build on our core mission:

“Becoming Europe’s most loved children’s bike brand.”

With a focus on safety, lightweight construction, smart design, and direct customer support, Chanty is well on its way to transforming how children’s bikes are bought – and loved.
